Whiskey and beer, although they are completely different kinds of alcohol, they are more similar than you may think. The fermentation of whiskey and beer are very similar, as well as the aging processes, and if you really are passionate about what goes into beer you can easily match up similar flavors.
I can’t really disagree with any of that– and the advice for approachable whiskeys for fans of specific beer profiles is compelling. I’m already a big fan of both, but had never really considered whiskey from a “beginners” perspective. Worth a read!
