Let’s get something out of the way: hard seltzer is not beer, and at Brewtastic we are under no obligation to like it. But TrimTab launched RECwater in 2018 and positioned it as “the South’s Original Hard Seltzer,” and the honest truth is it’s better than it has any right to be from a brewery we respect this much.

RECwater exists for the non-beer drinkers in your life — the ones who show up at TrimTab’s excellent taproom with you and don’t want beer but also don’t want to just drink water. TrimTab ferments theirs in-house with various fruit flavors, and the quality control is the same as their beer program: precise, clean, uncompromising on the basics.

It’s light, it’s bubbly, it’s flavored without being fake. If you’re the person in the group who ended up at a brewery inexplicably, RECwater gives you a reason to be there. If you’re a beer person who has somehow run out of gas on a July afternoon, one of these will reset you without destroying your evening.

We’re not putting a beer rating on a hard seltzer. But TrimTab built something here that doesn’t embarrass their shelf, which is the highest compliment we know how to give the category.
