The Review
Ghost Train described Pineapple Daze as “loaded to the brim with fresh pineapple purée and pineapple-forward hops” and double dry-hopped with 2018 Azzaca, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin, and at 8.2% ABV in a big-format can — and they’re not overselling it.
It pours a deep, hazy orange-gold, opaque and gorgeous, with a white head. The nose is immediate and overwhelming in the best way: ripe pineapple, tangerine, tropical flowers, the freshest hop character Ghost Train has put into a can. The palate is soft and pillowy, juicy fruit dominating, with a sweetness from the pineapple purée balanced by enough late-kettle hop bitterness to keep it from going candy. The finish is surprisingly clean for something this dense.
Ghost Train called this their first foray into larger format cans, and it was a flex worth making. At 8.2% it drinks dangerously easily — the tropical fruit hides the ABV until it doesn’t, and by then you’ve made peace with your evening’s trajectory.
Birmingham in July, a porch, a cold can of Pineapple Daze: one of those rare pairings where everything is exactly right.
